Ethernet interface extends use of industrial monitors

Through the integration of an Ethernet interface, Siemens is extending the possibilities for using its Flat Panel product. Where as thus far the latter could be used via the DVI and Displayport graphics interfaces at a distance of up to 30 meters from the server, connection via an Ethernet interface now enables the use of monitor screens as far away from the server as desired.

In this case, up to four monitors, which feature a continuous glass front and Projected Capacitive Touch (PCT) technology, can be hooked up to an industrial PC at the same time. The 19" and 22" glass front monitors support intuitive operation with gestures and multi-touch operation even if the operator is wearing work gloves. Connection to the Ethernet instead of via graphics interfaces brings greater flexibility in the development and introduction of decentralized operating concepts in mechanical and plant engineering. Time and cost savings can also be achieved in parallel thanks to reduced effort in terms of the cabling required.

  • No distance restriction when used via Ethernet interface
  • Up to 4 monitors linked to one IPC
  • Greater flexibility in development of decentralized operating concepts
  • Cost savings on cabling
