HMK announced as exclusive UK distribution partner for German manufacturer Koch

HMK Automation has been announced as the exclusive UK partner for leading energy management product manufacturer Michael Koch GmbH.

German company Koch has been established for almost 20 years and specialise in the manufacture of safe brake resistors and dynamic energy storage units for electric industrial drive technology.

Koch is the latest manufacturer to partner with HMK, joining some of the biggest names in technical innovation and automation including Siemens, Beckhoff, Atlanta and Techman Robot.

Nick Calow, Technical Director at HMK Automation, said: “We only work with the best suppliers and manufacturers who are leaders in their field and represent quality engineering, reliability and performance, so we are delighted to become the exclusive UK distribution partner for Koch, which as a company, encompasses all the qualities that we look for in a partner.

“Koch and HMK will make an incredibly complementary partnership – Koch is an official product partner for Siemens Drives Options, which is a key market for ourselves having worked with Siemens for 30 years and we have a very experienced team in the field of industrial drives.

“As the first and only UK distributor, we can supply the entire Koch product portfolio to our customers, but of course, we’re more than just a component supplier and we’re excited to be delivering Koch’s market-leading products alongside the unrivalled level of expertise from our team of engineers.

“HMK is known for bringing the most advanced and relevant automation technology to our customers, and we’re confident they will be excited by the innovative Pxt product range from Koch, which is the new generation of active energy management devices for electric drives.”

The Pxt product portfolio is the pioneering new range of energy storage solutions, which enable customers to bridge a failure in the mains power supply – a desirable solution for manufacturers of high value products in parts of the world with poor mains supply.

The Pxt system stores energy in order to maintain the DC bus voltage of the connected drive system, so it can ride through a short power glitch or bring a machine or process to a safe and controlled stop, therefore eliminating the risk of waste products and lost resources.

The Koch product range is compatible with the majority of manufacturers of industrial drives, and they have also worked closely with Siemens to create compatible and complementary parts for the Siemens SINAMICS V90G120 and S120 drive systems.
