HMK takes part in Covid-19 workplace testing scheme

HMK Automation is taking part in a Government scheme to offer Covid-19 self-testing for our workforce.

We’ve signed up to take part in the new workplace testing scheme, run in conjunction with NHS Test and Trace, in a bid to keep our staff safe and remain operational for our customers.

As part of the scheme, all HMK colleagues are offered a minimum of two rapid lateral flow tests per week, which return results within 30 minutes.

Nick Calow, Technical Director at HMK Automation, said: “We’re committed to keeping our workforce and customers safe, and following the outbreak of the pandemic last year we moved quickly to ensure the safety of our teams.

“We’ve already put extensive Covid-safety measures in place across our organisation and the new workplace testing programme is the next step to keep people safe and it also forms a vital part of the country’s route back to normal life, so we’re pleased to be playing our part.”

The HMK headquarters and warehouse site in Congleton are both open and a number of Covid-safety measures have been implemented, including:

  • Free workplace testing
  • A one-way system throughout our sites
  • Sanitisation stations
  • Anti-viral door mechanisms that can be opened with your foot rather than the handle
  • Covid-safe signage
  • Strict cleaning and hygiene procedures
  • Appointment system for customer visits
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided

HMK has remained fully operational throughout the pandemic, adapting quickly to provide the majority of our services remotely, including training, product support, sales and design.

Nick added: “While we will continue to offer our remote working solutions, there are instances when our engineers need to carry out site visits, so our participation in the workplace testing programme will provide that extra peace of mind for both our colleagues and customers.”
